Milestone Monday - 100!

How to celebrate 100? In school, elementary kids bring 100 marbles, toothpicks, or pennies. I am celebrating 100 blog posts with this milestone! In writing this blog, I have learned some things. Not 100, but here are a few...

- I started this blog to chronicle P's life. I have done an okay job but I can always improve!
- writing helps me remember that I have a fret life. No matter how busy or boring or tough something may be, I have a great husband, a wonderful daughter, fantastic friends, a great job, and plenty of other good things that I don't really need.
- link ups help me learn to write better and "meet" more friends. Thanks for letting me into your lives!
- I like sharing my life and hope you enjoy reading about mine!

Thanks again! Here's to many more!

My newest obsession

It came out and I resisted. I don't need one more thing to do online. I reluctantly gave in to see what all the hype was about. Then I made a few things and was hooked. What am I talking about? Pinterest of course!

I started with a few dinner recipes. Only one epic failure but the rest are now mainstays in our rotation. I have gotten ideas for kitchen organization and toddler meals. I have a slew of crafts on the to do list for this summer. Then, recently I made this:

This called Chocolate Wasted cake. It. Was. Awesome! Another win for pinterest! Follow me if you want!

Let me know and I'll follow you!

TAT - My Diaper Bag

There was one item that I did not have to shop around at all for when we got KU - my diaper bag. I am a HUGE Vera Bradley fan so there was no question - other than the pattern.
Since we were team green and J wanted to okay carrying it, I stuck with the basic black.

After P arrived we went through several iterations of contents, but right now this is what is in there for the sitter. So here goes...
Sippy cup and snacks
A few toys
A few burp cloths
Her clothes for the day and a backup
A few item for "just in case"
And of course!

I am dreaming of the day when I will need less because then I can get a new Vera tote in a fun pattern and use it for her and me!

Milestone Monday

I have a fabulous family, great friends, and things are good in the world. I joined The Knot {way} back in 1998 when I got engaged to plan and organize all things wedding. It was great. Then once we were married, I graduated to The Nest. Once we began TTC and got KU, I was on The Bump.

I met a lot of great women there, some who I "hang out" with via their blogs and some IRL. One of those special people is Mrs Monica at Running Through Parenthood in Heels. She is funny, down to Earth wife, teacher, and mom (not necessarily in that order) and we happen to live near each other. We met up before getting pregnant and I have been lucky enough to be able to call her my friend.

She has a great blog - seriously check it out. You can link to it through her button at the bottom of my blog.

Because she is the coolest, she made me a button too. I have been meaning to get it onto my blog but have not had the time yet. Then blogger went and changed everything so I am so nervous to try, but I am going to today. If you want, grab my button so others can come back and visit me too!

Thanks again to my great friend, Mrs Monica!

Gearing up for spring

Sometime soon the weather will be evening out - tomorrow the high will be in the 50s, Wednesday will be close to 70, but the weekend is set for cooler temps again, but in the meantime, I am gearing up for a busy May!

Along with being a wife, mom, teacher, friend, and person, I am a track official. That means that I could be the person with the gun. I had to write that. Everyone always asks. BTW I am not because I don't have a starter's pistol and I don't like that job. My main job is scoring. We have a FAT (fully automatic timing) system. Basically there is a camera that captures the finish and I analyze the picture to not only assign place but also time. It is fun when things work but is absolutely terrible when dysfunction occurs. We are in the midst of dysfunction.

We have been working on the system for three weeks. We are down to two weeks before our big invitational, followed by the league meet, and then state tournament, that we host the first round of. I am hoping that we go out tomorrow and the technology department has fixed the computers and things work. If not we are back to square one. We will see.

Today I got fitted with and bought a new pair of shoes for the 3day. Training is in full swing so I am now ready. I hope that the weather holds this week so P and I can get out for our walks this week!

If you could keep your fingers crossed that I get a state contract this week, that would be really fun! I will keep you updated!

13 months!

I am going to try to do a small monthly update for a little while longer since so much changes so quickly right now. I love to look back and see what she has done so I want to keep it up!

Age: 13 months (and a few days)

Stats: nothing official right now but I would guess tht she is still under 23 lbs. No clue on height - I am bad at that one!

Sizes: she is still in size 3 diapers during the day but we have started using 4s at night. J is thankful for this since P had her first overnight poop out the other morning :). Clothes are solid 12 month but she does have some 18 month items (especially tops).

Sleeping: overnight is still going well. P gets about 11 hours a night and when she stirs (usually once a night), she cries out but can settle herself most of the time. Napping is still an adventure. I think that she is approaching one nap per day but she gets too tired too early in the morning for just one. We will see!

Eating: she is totally on WCM. We used our last bag of frozen milk this past weekend. She is a champ with it. Someday we will wean from the bottle... She is totally into table food. She is even to the point of eating most of what we do for dinner. This has been nice at dinner. I an struggling a little with what to send for lunch. She has been having grilled cheese everyday for a week! I have a recipe for toddler meatballs that I am go g to try this weekend - wish us luck!

Milestones: babbling up a storm! She has some phrases that she is saying, like "what's that?". So cute and I answer her like she might understand me every time! We are working on having time on her feet, to the point that I even am contemplating buying a walker. Maybe she'll walk or even just cruise someday!

Favorites: she really loves to pull items out of a bin or basket. I got some fruits and veggies from Ikea and she is loving them. She enjoys watching out the window and gets super excited when daddy comes home!

One of my favorite things about her is her hair! It is fuzzy and crazy and I love it!

Love this!

I have really felt that a lot of people secretly wish that parents of kids younger than theirs should suffer through parenthood more than they did. To be sure the new parent respect the more experienced parent gives their most hideous moment and wishes it upon the new. I hope that I can give new and perspective parents hope. With that, I share this fabulous post. Enjoy!

The end

I cannot believe this day has come. P will be having her last bottle of breast milk this afternoon. since I stopped pumping we have been giving her two out if three bottles of BM a day and the other WCM. I had it figured how many days I had left but over the course of Easter and school and life, I lost track. As we were unpacking groceries, I wanted to get her bottles for the rest of the day ready so I asked J to get out 2bags of frozen BM. He turned around and said, I only have the one.

Here it is:

The end of an era. I am in a little shock!

Weekend Update

Another crazy busy week in the books and I haven't written a thing! With that said here are the highlights of our week!

Easter was good. P ad her first egg hunt through my mom's work. She liked seeing all the people but the grass of the indoor soccer field kept her stationary. We then had J's parents over fir dinner on Saturday. We had a good time!

Sunday we went to brunch with my side if the family. We were nervous since it was during P's normal first nap. She was a champ and even ate lots of new foods. We relaxed at home after. She enjoyed her basket!

This week has put us back to work and the regular routine. I have officially started training for the 3 day - only 16 weeks! Although I still have not gotten the running stroller from my sister, the Chicco is working for my shorter walks. P is pretty relaxed with it!

Track is also getting going. I wish we had everything working perfectly but we are still getting there!

I will be back to some regular posting. May will be slim for me but I will be around - PROMISE!!

Good {Fri}day

Both J and I are off for a 4 day weekend, and u fortunately we have a lot going on. Most of it is good family stuff for Easter but that leaves little time for relaxing. For example, today P and I went grocery shopping, we all went to get our wills notarized (finally), J mowed, I got in a training walk, we cleaned, we did a little more baby proofing, and P got her normal nightly routine. That's just today!

We are heading an egg hunt in the morning (per my mom's request - cute, but really?), then we are hosting J's parents for Easter. Sunday we have brunch with my side of the fam (right a nap time). Monday we are getting the AC checked, I have some work to do for track, J has a doctors appointment, and I am hoping to get to the Y to join.

While I love seeing everyone, I just filled in our calendar for May and man do I have a lot of track meets! And four family birthdays, and Mother's day, and graduation! I guess I should eat up our down time in the next few weeks!

I will add that one FANTASTIC thing happened today. My friend Melissa received a call - she is cancer free! It is a good Friday!

Almost Wordless Wednesday

One of my best friends will be having a double mastectomy as the next step in her journey to be cancer free. Please sends any extra thoughts and prayers you may have her way.

Oh, and ladies, go feel your boobies. It is never too soon to start checking!

TAT - Favorite Pictures

Growing up Geeky is at it again with Toddle Along Tuesday. Mama G is looking for my favorite picture of my P. it is hard to choose one but this one is at the top of the list for sure!

P loves her dog dog and, luckily, Gracie doesn't mind her!
