TAT: I said what!?!?

I'm hooking up again with newly blessed mom of 2, Melissa, at Growing Up Geeky. Congrats mama!  I hope you are settling in well at home!

This week's topic is things I actually say and honestly can't believe it. These are only a few that I can think of. I know that plenty of silly things come out of my mouth on a regular basis that I can't think of right now.

Here goes:
- P don't bite the markers.

- P keep your fingers out if the dog's nose.

- here is an actual conversation between P and I a minimum of 3 times today:
P, "Go outside."  Yes this a statement nit a question.
   Me, "It's raining honey."
P, "Ohhhh.   (Slight pause).  Go outside."
   Repeat at least 5 times.

- P don't sit on the dog or pull the dog's tail.

I'm noticing a lot about the dog. I feel bad for her.

What do you say?

Weekly wrap-up

Hello!  School is really starting to take over my life!  As much as I am excited for basketball season, it is going to be NUTS!  I will be reorganizing my blogging schedule then but until then I am aiming for 3-4 posts a day.

Here is what is on the agenda or this week:
- TAT (I am hoping it is still on after Melissa's status update on FB)
- my kid is too cute not to do wordless Wednesday
- I am getting back into working out but I am dealing with a foot injury and a crazy schedule. I am going to write about my plan and keep you all updated.
- I am hosting a Keurig House Party. I'm exited to share that with you too!

18 months

We are really teetering on being closer to 2 than 1!  I cannot believe it. Here's the run down:

Age: 18 months
She loves her dog!

Stats: we will have "official" numbers tomorrow.  I'll try to update. I am dying to know how tall she is!

Sizes: Still size 4 diapers.  We are relooking at over nights. Not bad, but definitely more leaks than I think we should have. Clothes are solidly 24 month items. I am trying to figure out the difference between 24 months and 2T. I still don't get it.

Sleeping: She is doing well here. She sleeps a solid 11 hours at night. Napping still less predictable. She sleeps well at home. At the sitter 90 minutes is a success!  Oh well.
Sadly this is not morning hair, but post yogurt hair!

Eating: Still great here.  She continues to impress everyone with her variety and appetite!  I live it!

Favorites: Still her phones - sad but true. She likes her tunnel and books. I am excited for Christmas to get a few new items for the rotation. We are back on the playroom planning. More to come on that.
I promise, she does like her bath!

5 Dinners 1 Hour - review and giveaway!!!

I am really excited about this.  I have been writing about my new love of freezer and pre-make meals.  This service has opened up a lot of options for my family.

5 Dinners in 1 Hour is just what is sounds like.  This idea was developed by a mom that was tired of getting caught without a plan and having to eat out too much.  In the plan you get recipes, a shopping list, and directions to prep and cook 5 meals.  The best part is - you can get the prep done in 1 hour!  They are really family friendly AND use readily available and reasonably prices ingredients.

Each month, you get a list of the recipes organized by week, so you can see at a glance what your month could look like.

Next comes the list of ingredients - making it really easy to shop.  I use this list to "shop" at home to see what I already have.  Then I take it to the store to get the rest.  The pages after that help you prep your meals and include the easy cooking instructions for the day of!

I took this picture yesterday so there are only a few meals left in my freezer for this week!  Proof that J and P have been loving it too!

PS - for us, we actually get more than 5 dinners each week since there are only 2.5 (P doesn't eat a full serving) of us eating the meals made for 4!  I have split most during prep so I have two per recipe!

Here is a little more about Michelle in her own words:
I came up with a plan to make 5 dinners in 1 hour. I have to say, I don't miss the greasy drive thru meals at all.

Now check it out!
Check out everything at http://www.5dinners1hour.com. There are sample menus and recipes for free on the blog!

What can you win?
Now here is the best part of the post! Michelle has agreed to give my one of my readers a chance to win a 6 month subscription to the classic menu!  What a deal!

{Almost} Wordless Wednesday

Going along with TAT, one of P's favorite activities is to empty drawers.
Now she likes to fill baskets too!
Here is the magazine basket in our master bathroom:
Here is one of the drawers with random stuff:
After P has done her work, here is the drawer:
And the magazine basket:

I guess I should be happy the items end up in one place, right?

TAT: what can I get into!?!?

Toddle Along Tuesday is back for the week!  Melissa is looking for non-traditional toys. P has found the usual pots, lids, spoons, and other kitchen gear, but she is also a big fan of paper. If it can be torn - it's hers!

She is also a big fan of getting in boxes, bins, and baskets!

Going back to school (AKA work)

Everyone said that once I had kids (hee hee, they thought I would have more than one), I wouldn't like going back to school even more. Strangely for me, it's not true. I love my job. I love the people I work with. I have a fantastic sitter - who loves P as much as P loves her. And I do get plenty of other perks.

With all that said going back is always stressful for me. I want my room to be ready. I want my plans to be ready. I want to be ready. Homeroom plans need to be ready.  Oh, did I mention I want this before the first workday?

Hi. I'm Heather and I am type A. I know that is not all realistic, especially working around P's nap schedule and with her "help" in my room. I managed to have my room, homeroom plans, and my first week plans ready. Me, that is always a work in progress.

Then next hurdle is getting back into the swing of things.  J and I really tried to get and stay on a better sleeping schedule. On work days we are headed to bed by 10. This means we are most likely asleep by 10:30. Since I'm up at 5:15 on school days, I can get almost 7 hours. Not bad by mom standards!

Here is my typical work day:
5:15 - up and getting ready. Hair, face, breakfast, get coffee and water bottle ready. I also fill my lunch bag.

6:20 - in the car on my way to work.

6:35 - at school and the work begins!

7:30 - J gets P to the sitter.

3:15 - go get P from the sitter. I love hearing her yell "Mommy" as I walk in the door.

4:00 - P and I get home. I wash the lunch dishes and bottles from the day.  I get things together dinner if needed (see more about that below). Then P and I play until J gets home.

5:30 - J gets home. I put dinner in the oven.  P and I venture upstairs on days J works out.

6:30 - dinner time!  P gets going first but we sit down with her. I love that dinner is all of us together when at all possible.  I put together my lunch stuff now too.

7:00 - We get things cleaned up from dinner. Right now we usually spend a little time "OUTSIDE" since that is P's latest obsession.

7:30 - Bath time. I get dirty clothes out of P's bag to replace them with her clothes for the next day. J gives P her bath while I shower. P and I clean up toys while J showers.

8:00 - P and I read a story, cuddle a little, talk about the day, and I put her to bed.

8:15 - J and I relax, catch up on FB, I grade (if needed), and watch TV.

10:00 - J and I head for bed. Just to do it again tomorrow!

I prep a lot of dinner stuff on weekends to save evening time for us. I have found several freezer friendly dinners that we love and a, always hunting for more.  If you have any good recipes to share let me know!

That's a full day!  I need to see how I can get a workout for myself in there every once in a while. We'll see!

My clothes get laid out right before my shower. P's get in the diaper bag before her bath.

Here is what I got to clean up. :)

TAT: Me and P

This week is all about me and my favorite little girl. Here is what I have on my iPad of she and I!

PS I don't take enough pictures of the 2 of us.
PPS I wear my hair up way too much!

Weekly Wrap-up

So I dropped the ball a little with blogging last week. I suppose I forgot how tiring the first full week of school really is. I promise to keep up with at least 3 regular posts a week as much as possible. Here's the plan for this week:

- TAT is lovely to participate in!
- I have the most adorable video for Wednesday
- I am seriously going to write about heading back to school
