Nifty and Thirfty Thursday - cheap art

A la Pinterest, I found this cool idea for creating custom sized art that will definitely match whatever you need. I am totally doing this next week!



This is a cheap easy eay to get art you will love and love to change. I get bored with our comforter in our bedroom very easily but redoing all the art every time in typically not in the budget. This idea of using fabric on insulation will allow me to easily do this! I am excited!

Garage sale

I hope this is worth it! I ave been folding, cleaning out, and organizing for a few weeks and this week will be crazy! We have 2 more days with students but they are exam days so I knw that I will be ale to get out in time each day.

Wednesday s a shorter day and with P at te sitter, I am hoping to come home and get some work done moving stuff upstairs and pricing. Thursday my mom will be here and possibly my sisters. I am hoping that we won't be working all day but I bet it will.

The one rule that I stand by with garage sales is that if we put it out for sale, it doesn't come back in te house. It either is sold or we donate it. What is your garage know how to share with me?

Sunroofs, dealerships, and loaners, oh my!

So our week ended with this Jaguar in our garage but before anyone thinks we either 1. Have that much to spend on a car or 2. Would ever spend that much on a car, know that this is a loaner.

It all started last weekend when J, P, and I went up to see MIL and FIL for the day. As we were driving, J was talking about how there was a lot of air coming in the sunroof and proceeded to mess with it A LOT. This did not make things better. Keep in mind it was Memorial day weekend so the Land Rover dealer's service was not open until Tuesday. Tuesday was also the first day in over a week that rain was forecasted (of course).

After messing with getting rides to work for DH and getting the car to the dealer, we were left with one car and no news on what was wrong or how long it would take to fix it. We arranged rides for the next couple days and waited for news. By the end of Wednesday, I got a text from J describing the quote on price as "nauseating." Awesome. The price range for fixing the roof ranged from under $100 (yeah, right) to almost $3000 (OMG). J did discussed just sealing it for a lot less if the worst case scenario came true. If it could be worse, we were still not going to know what was wrong or how much we were going to have to pay until Thursday morning at least because they had to consult the glass guys and remove the roof.

So Thursday comes and J gets the good news/bad news call. The good news, the sunroof is fixed and the bill is not too bad (not $75 but way from from the thousands I was imagining). The bad news, they dented the car! The guy described it as a "pretty good dent in the passanger side door." They had it ready to go to the body shop and needed to know if we needed a loaner. Other than the fact that yes, we really need 2 cars for now, this is a Land Rover/Jaguar dealer. J was dreaming and drooling all the way to pick it up. So for about a week, he will be driving an XF. And he can keep dreaming!

Almost!

While I love my job, teaching starts to wear on every teacher towards the end of the year. The students get squirrelly, parents start freaking about grades, the weather gets nice, and deadlines for work come up. The day before exams is always the worst at the high school level. Other than reviewing, and begging for extra credit, the students don't want to sit or do much of anything.

Final exams and I have a love hate relationship. As much as I don't want one test to define a student's progress. This test does give me an assessment of my own teaching from trimester to trimester and bell to bell.

We have 2 more days (of exams) and then our work day. This next week will be a little crazy with the end of school comes a few fun get togethers (Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons) and a ton of clean up in my classroom. And te garage sale and dealing with J's car. I will post more about both later.

But for now, I just wait for our administrators to play...

Bath time horror!?!?

Bath time has been a really fun time for P and J. Part of our bedtime routine is her daddy bath - nothing creepy, just J is in charge of that part of the evening. It has been great. She plays, splashes, and even has been pulling the plug on the drain when the bath ends.

Enter this past Monday (also the day I signed P up for "swim lessons").

P is suddenly FREAKED out by the bath tub! She is basically trying to climb out. I tried to give her a bath but she reacted the same way. We are not sure what to do. We tried less water. More toys for distraction. I am going to try getting in with her tonight. We are at a loss after that. I know that a nightly bath is not absolutely necessary but she is so dirty from crawling all over she really needs it.

Any help out there?

I am officially in! Registration opened for the 3 day and mine is done! We are just over 10 weeks away but I can't wait!

TAT - Firsts

I am joining up with Melissa at Growing Up Geeky for another round of Toddle Along Tuesday. I love her first - super cute video!

I feel like every day is a first with P, but I think that my favorite so far is that she knows where to go for some of the things we do every day. For example, at night when it is time for her bath, J will say, "Are you ready for your bath?" The P will stop what she is doing and crawl over the the bottom of the stairs!

At the sitter she goes to her high chair when it is time for lunch. This amazes our sitter. I love that she knows what we are saying and can demonstrate that to us. We are working on some signs and words, but her actions let me know that she is learning! I love it!
